TL;DR

Website migration prices run from €19 for a gig on Fiverr to $30,000+ for a platform change with a redesign done by an experienced agency. The gap between quotes is scope.

  • 1:1 migration at Khod: $5,000 to $20,000+, depending on the platform. WordPress starts at $10,000.
  • With a redesign, or a large site with a complex CMS: up to $30,000+.
  • What a full migration includes: every indexed URL mapped, each changed one redirected, the site's features rebuilt, and rankings monitored for 30 days after launch.
  • What skipping it costs: ProEdge Dental lost about 97% of its organic visibility after a migration that launched with steps left undone.

How much does a website migration cost by platform?

At Khod, a 1:1 website migration costs $5,000 to $20,000 depending on the platform path, and up to $30,000+ with a redesign. Every price includes a URL audit, redirects, content migration and 30 days of SEO monitoring.

Migration path 1:1 migration at Khod Audit to launch
WordPress to Webflow From $10,000 4–8 weeks
Squarespace to Webflow $7,000–$20,000 4–6 weeks
Wix to Webflow $7,000–$20,000 4–6 weeks
Framer to Webflow $7,000–$20,000 4–6 weeks
Webflow to Next.js From $5,000 4–6 weeks
Webflow to Astro From $5,000 2–6 weeks
Webflow to Sanity From $5,000 2–6 weeks

WordPress migration cost starts higher because plugins do work a Webflow site has to rebuild: forms, SEO fields, custom post types and search. Webflow migration cost depends on the direction. Moving onto Webflow runs from $7,000. Moving off it starts at $5,000, because the site is rebuilt in code, where coding agents handle much of the repetitive build work while architecture, design and QA stay with the team.

What does a redesign add to the cost?

Scope Price at Khod What changes
1:1 migration $5,000–$20,000 The platform, CMS and hosting. Design, URLs and content stay the same
Migration with a redesign Up to $30,000+ Also the design system, page layouts and often the content structure

A redesign adds design rounds before the build and makes any ranking change harder to explain, because two things moved at once. If the design can wait, migrate 1:1 first and redesign second. Both budgets stay smaller, and the cause of any change stays clear.

Every path runs through the same process, covered on our website migration services page.

How much will your migration cost?

Four steps: where the site is built, where it is going, how it is structured and what it does. The website migration cost calculator returns a range for your site.

What does a website migration cost include?

A website migration service cost covers six jobs, plus design if the site is redesigned. Compare quotes on which of them each price includes.

Part of the work What it covers What pushes the cost up
Audit and benchmark A crawl of every indexed URL, form and CMS field, plus a baseline of rankings, traffic and Core Web Vitals Thousands of indexed URLs, including old campaign pages, PDFs and tag archives missing from your navigation
Redesign (optional) A new design system and page layouts, approved before the build starts. See what a redesign adds New templates, a new content structure, more design rounds
URL map and redirects A decision for every old URL, and a 301 redirect wherever the address changes A new URL structure, merged pages, a new domain
Content migration Pages, CMS items, images and metadata moved into the new structure Collections that reference each other, rich text that needs cleanup, a platform with no clean export
Functionality rebuild Forms, search, filtering, gated content and calculators Plugins or apps with no equivalent on the new platform
QA on staging Redirects, metadata, schema, tracking and forms tested before launch Several languages, many templates
Launch and monitoring DNS cutover, sitemap submission, 30 days of rank and crawl monitoring A domain change with a Change of Address request

The CMS can change your running cost as well. On Webflow, the Premium plan includes 40 CMS collections and 20,000 items, so a large archive can decide the plan you need.

Redirects and QA are the line items a low quote leaves out first. They also decide whether your rankings survive the move.

Is DIY, a hosting transfer or an agency cheaper?

Option What you pay Fits when
Hosting transfer Depends on the new host. Check its plan before you pay anyone You are changing servers and nothing else. The URLs and platform stay the same
Gig marketplace From €19 in Fiverr's website backup and migration category (September 2026) A copy of an unchanged site to a new host, with no redirect map or monitoring needed
DIY Your team's time, plus tools. Screaming Frog is free up to 500 URLs and £199 a year above that A small site with little organic traffic, and URLs that stay the same
Freelancer Quoted per project A single-platform move with a short redirect list, and one person who owns the build and the SEO checks
Agency $5,000–$30,000+ at Khod Search brings in leads, the domain or platform changes, or design, CMS and tracking move at once

DIY costs time. The median web developer in the US earned $92,650 in May 2025, about $45 an hour. Forty hours of in-house developer time on a migration is roughly $1,800 in salary, before you count the work it pushes back. If you run it yourself, our website migration checklist lists the 50 checks we run on every client move.

What does an incomplete website migration cost later?

ProEdge Dental’s move from WordPress to Webflow launched with steps left undone. The sitemap was never submitted, redirects were missing or pointed at the wrong pages, and canonical tags were never set between the www and non-www versions. Ahrefs and Semrush put organic visibility down roughly 97% since launch, and it went unnoticed for four months. Our fix started with 82 confirmed 404s.

Every item on that list is a line item in a full-scope migration. Compare quotes on those steps, and the price gap usually explains itself.

What costs show up after launch?

  • Platform plans. Webflow, Sanity and hosting are billed by those platforms, on top of the migration.
  • Support. For Webflow, we offer either ongoing retainers or flexible pay-as-you-go support billed at our hourly maintenance rate. For Next.js and Astro, ongoing support is available through a monthly retainer.
  • Editor training. A new CMS means a new workflow. Budget an hour or two per editor.

How do you get an accurate website migration quote?

Send four things: the URL, the platform you want to move to, whether the design stays or changes, and what the site does beyond pages, such as forms, search, gated content and integrations. Then ask every vendor the same four questions:

  • Is every indexed URL mapped, or only the main pages?
  • Who tests the redirects before launch, and how?
  • What happens in the 30 days after launch, and is a fix billed as new work?
  • Does the price include the new platform plan and hosting?

The answers show what each price includes. At Khod, the audit comes first and the number follows it.

How long does a website migration take?

A website migration timeline runs two to eight weeks from audit to launch for a 1:1 move: 2 to 6 weeks off Webflow, 4 to 6 from Squarespace, Wix or Framer to Webflow, and 4 to 8 from WordPress. A redesign adds design rounds before the build. Google then needs time too: for a small to medium site, it can take a few weeks for most pages to move in search results.

How do you migrate a website without losing SEO?

Map every indexed URL before launch, redirect each changed URL once with a 301, carry metadata and schema across, and watch Search Console for 30 days. Expect some movement: Google says rankings fluctuate temporarily while it recrawls a moved site. A complete redirect map keeps that dip short.

How do you migrate a website to a new domain?

Map every old URL to its new address and redirect each one with a 301. Then file a Change of Address request in Search Console, and keep the redirects running for as long as possible: Google's site move guidance says generally at least a year. A new domain changes every URL at once, so it costs more than a same-domain move. We moved our own site from tilipmandigital.com to khod.io in June 2026, and the numbers are in Khod Labs.

Will my website go down during a migration?

No, when the cutover is planned. The new site is built and tested on staging while the old one stays live. On launch day, DNS switches on a schedule set in advance and gets watched as traffic arrives. Lowering the DNS TTL a day before launch means a rollback, if one is needed, takes minutes.

Website migration cost FAQ

How much does it cost to migrate a website?

Anywhere from €19 for a gig on Fiverr to $30,000+ for a platform change with a redesign. At Khod, a 1:1 migration runs $5,000 to $20,000 depending on the platform path, and a redesign or a large, complex site takes it past $20,000.

Can I migrate a website for free?

Moving an unchanged site to a new host can be free if the host includes the transfer. Changing platforms has a cost: every page is rebuilt, and someone has to check the URLs, redirects and tracking. You pay in your team's time or in a vendor's fee.

Why do website migration quotes differ so much?

Scope. One quote covers the pages. Another covers every indexed URL, the redirect map, QA and monitoring. A third includes a redesign. Ask each vendor which of those the price includes.

Will my rankings drop after a migration?

Expect some movement while Google recrawls the site. A full URL map and single-hop 301s keep the dip short. We monitor rankings for 30 days after launch and fix anything the migration broke without billing it as new work.

Is a website migration worth the cost?

It is when the current platform slows publishing, blocks features you need, or costs more to run than it returns. If the site works and your team ships pages without help, spend the budget on something else.

Does the price include hosting and platform plans?

No. Webflow, Sanity and hosting plans are billed by those platforms. The audit shows which plan the new site needs, so the running cost is known before you commit.
